Coal Gasification is the process of reaction between Carbon (Coal) and Water(Steam) in presence of limited amount of Oxygen (Air) for production of CO, CnHn & H2, which is called Coal Gas
Following are the reactions which take place to produce coal gas
C+O2=CO2+Heat
C+1/2 O2=CO+ Heat
C+CO2=2CO-Heat
C+H2O=CO+H2-Heat
C+2H2O=CO2+2H2-Heat
Gasification process take place in 4 steps:

Gasification process take place in 4 steps:
- Drying & Charge Pre Heat
- Pyrolysis
- Reduction
- Oxidation
Producer Gas composition
Producer gas has the following composition: CO: 15-20%;
H2:15-20%; CH4: 2-6%; CO2: 7-10%; N2: 40-50%
