India's Gasification Inspires Tasmania Farm

The biomass gasification in India appears to be receiving global attention. A tomato farm in Tasmania's North-west is turning to India's latest technology in renewable energy. They are on the way to reduce power bills and improve production.

The gasification technology in India turns agricultural waste into energy and as by-product produces carbon dioxide for plants.

Grower Marcus Brandsema recently travelled to India. He interacted with the gasifier manufacturers and engineers and took a close look at the biomass plants in action.

He said, " what happens is the organic material goes into a gasifier. The machine is operating at a high temperature of around 800 degree Celsius, in a reduced oxygen atmosphere. The organic material does not burns, but gets oxidizes and gives off a gas which is useful to use downstream. Operators clean it and use it in an engine which can drive a generator or a pump or can be used as alternative fuel resource.

Besides biomass gasification, coal gasification is also getting global importance. CASE Group in India is a leading supplier of coal gasifier. The esteemed engineering company also supplies other engineering products with state-of-the-art technologies.
