A wood chip-powered generator that has been travelling the province for the last year took up residence at the SaskTel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival. Wood chips go in, carbon monoxide and hydrogen come out, producing energy that was used to run a canteen.
The machine is owned by the Saskatchewan Research Council. Jordan Wicks, a research technologist with the organization said he hopes touring the 'gasifier' around Saskatchewan will show people in the province that alternative energy 'is not a pie in the sky idea'.
