Types of Feeding Material in Coal Gasifier

Coal Burning in the Manufacturing House
Coal Gasifier is an energy equipment system to conduct the process of coal gasification. Here, air and
steam is used as gasifying agent and coal as feeding material to produce syngas, a combustible mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen.

When it comes to selection of feeding material, two types coal class dominate the market sphere-
  • Bituminous coal
  • Anthracite coal
Bituminous coal are a relative soft coal which contain tar like substance called bitumen. The carbon content in this organic sedimentary rock is around 60-80%. Such coal is known for underground explosions. Therefore its extraction demands highest safety procedure following management.

Availability:

Anthracite coal is a metamorphosed coal with carbon content between 92.1% to 98% . The kind of organic product ignites with difficulty and burns with short, blue and smokeless flame. It is the hardest and most brittle of all coals.

Availability:
Anthracite coal is scarce in the world. It is mined in certain regions of Pennsylvania, primarily in Lackawanna, Luzerne, and Schuylkill counties. Smaller resources are found in Rhode Island and Virginia. Yet, sources mentioned that countries like India, China, South Africa, Ukraine, Russia and USA are largest anthracite coal exporters.
